Frankie and the Fashions provided some doo wop and fun.

The man loves movies

If you spend ten minutes with June Donaldson head of security at The Bellevue you'll discover that he loves movies. Spend ten minutes more and you'll find out about his love of line dancing but that's for another post.

Here are June's reviews of first-run and DVD movies:

The Transformers: Disappointed. Not for kids. The producers forgot to give Philadelphia credit. No skyline shots. Not as good as the first one, but entertaining.

Hangover: Must see! Very funny. Supposed to be a guy's movie but even women like it.

DVD: He's Just Not That Into You: Very good!

Crossing Over: Must see! Will remind you of Crash.

What June's watching this weekend: The Inkwell with Brendan Frasier; Up with the grandkids.

About Rick's Opening...

The festivities start Thursday with a performance by Kenn Kweder. The Philly-born rocker's website describes his performances as "a circus," "a riot," and even "a religious experience" : three things that don't traditionally happen in the food court (and we kinda hope won't happen tomorrow.) Carolyn Wyman will also be there autographing copies of her new book, The Great Philly Cheesesteak Book, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

But Friday's when the big deal happens: a ribbon of hot peppers will be sliced by local and state officials (Nutter's confirmed, if the Governor can get away from his Budget Business in H-burg he'll be there); Frankie and the Fashions will bring a bit of deep South Broad doo-wop to the event. NBC 10's Adhiti Roy will be grilling and chatting up folks in the food court.

And if you hear the roar of motorcycles coming up Broad Street, it's the members of the FOP highway patrol coming to support Rick as he's supporting them by donating proceeds of his Friday sales to their Hero Fund.

Simon PR (11th floor of The Bellevue) got a new staff member and updated their photos with a classic shot on the median in front of both The Bellevue and City Hall. That's photographer Steve Ehrlich photographing (from left) Beverly Volpe, Lisa Simon, Frank Sinatra (yes, nic) and new staffer Meredith Wertz, back in Philadelphia after four years in sigh, Hawaii. More details on their blog.
